Cherry Barbecue Sauce


1/2 medium yellow onion, chopped

1 tablespoon butter

1 garlic clove, minced

1 cup frozen cherries, thawed

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/8 cup apple cider vinegar

1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon brown mustard

1/4 teaspoon pepper

  1. Chop half of one yellow onion and cut frozen cherries into small pieces.

  2. In a small saucepan, saute onion in butter over medium heat until tender, approximately 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook for one minute.

  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Cook, uncovered, on medium-low heat for 20 minutes, or until the mixture is thickened.

  4. Brush sauce onto meat of your choice and marinate for 4-6 hours or overnight.
