Big J Produce

The Cardenas' Family Heritage on the strawberry industry goes back to 1966 when my father Juan Cardenas came from El Montoso Jalisco, Mexico when he was only 17. Working many different jobs throughout California from Merced, Chico and Santa Maria. Finally in 1983 he realized he didn't want to work for anyone but himself to have enough to provide for his wife and 4 children. He started a small 3 acre farm operation in Santa Maria, CA with my 3 siblings and I. Now 40 years and 200 acres later with the 3rd generation following his foot steps Big J Produce,Inc. continues to be a family owned strawberry farm for many generations to come. What makes us unique is the dedication and perseverance my father has taught us to work hard to make our dreams come true. So I think the most rewarding part about this is to see the health, welfare and future of our workers and their families.
