Spiced Berry Compote
2 cups frozen berry blend
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
4 whole star anise
Combine the berries, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks and star anise in a medium saucepan over medium-low heat.
Cover and cook for 10-15 minutes, until the fruit has started to break down but still retains some shape.
Discard the cinnamon sticks and star anise and serve over vanilla ice cream.
